The Democratic Party (DS) and the Serb Radical Party (SRS) have both reported new attacks on their party activists. The DS allege that a group of their activists were attacked this morning in the center of Sabac while they were putting up posters of presidential candidate and party leader Boris Tadic, while the SRS reported that one of their activists, Sima Antonic, had been attacked in Sombor. Election campaign turning dirty Sabac DS President Svetomir Vesic said that the incident in that town had occurred at 4.30 a.m. “Three of our people were attacked by unidentified assailants who tore down the posters that they had been sticking up. One of the attackers kicked the activists’ car several times and verbally insulted them before running off,” Vesic told journalists. Meanwhile, the Radicals announced that one of their activists had been attacked by four youths, calling them “Boris Tadic’s henchmen.” The incident took place at 00.12 on January 17 when the aforementioned youths attacked Antonic with baseball bats, leaving him with severe head and leg injuries. Šabac DS President Svetomir Vešić said that the incident in that town had occurred at 4.30 a.m.

“Three of our people were attacked by unidentified assailants who tore down the posters that they had been sticking up. One of the attackers kicked the activists’ car several times and verbally insulted them before running off,” Vešić told journalists.

Meanwhile, the Radicals announced that one of their activists had been attacked by four youths, calling them “Boris Tadić’s henchmen.”

The incident took place at 00.12 on January 17 when the aforementioned youths attacked Antonić with baseball bats, leaving him with severe head and leg injuries.

Both parties condemned the use of violence during the election campaign.
