The Democrats (DS) say that SRS activists assaulted their members who were putting up posters of President Boris Tadic. According to the claim from Tadic’s campaign headquarters, on two occasion yesterday afternoon, Serb Radical Party (SRS) supporters, wearing clear party insignia and carrying propaganda material for their candidate Tomislav Nikolic, attacked Democratic Party youth members with metal bats in Knez Milos Street. Radical activists attack DS counterparts It is added that propaganda material was taken from the DS activists, and that more serious consequences were only prevented when the police intervened. “This incident is a clear indicator of the way the SRS works and the way it would treat opponents were it in power. That’s the future that this party is offering citizens with rule by force and fear,” read a statement from the president’s headquarters. SRS General Secretary Aleksandar Vucic dismissed the DS claims of an attack on its activists as lies, and a typical DS ploy in the run-up to elections.
