Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic is visiting Slovenia, on an invitation from Slovenian chief of diplomacy Dimitrij Rupel. According to the Slovenian Foreign Ministry, the visit comes within the framework of regular dialogue between the two countries as well as dialogue between Slovenia, which currently holds the EU presidency, and the rest of the region. Jeremic in diplomatic visit to Ljubljana The meeting will include discussions on the Kosovo status situation, Serbia’s European prospects, a presentation of Slovenia’s priorities during its period at the EU’s helm and bilateral relations between the two countries. Slovenia wishes to confirm its interest in further strengthening bilateral relations, and its stances towards Serbia and the western Balkans, which, as a region, has European prospects, as confirmed at the Council of Europe session in Thessaloniki in 2003. In regards to Serbian Foreign Minister Jeremic’s visit, the ministry stated that it was important for the stability of the entire region for Serbia to secure a high level of cooperation with the Hague Tribunal as soon as possible, enabling it to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU. Jeremic is also expected to sign an agreement for cooperation between Serbia’s institutions and the Center for a European Future. According to reports, during his trip, Jeremic will also be meeting with Rupel and Slovenian President Danilo Turk.
