Jelko Kacin has reacted to Janez Jansa’s remark that Bosnia poses a greater threat to Balkan stability than Kosovo. The European Parliament (EP) MP called his fellow countryman and Slovenian president’s comment “open provocation that Bosnian politicians must dismiss in their actions and agreements.” EP member labels Jansa comment "provocation" Kacin told Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz that he did not agree with this view, neither as a politician nor as a member of the European Parliament. “The problem with his remark is that he’s not just the Slovenian president, but, for the time being, president of the EU Council of Ministers. That’s why his provocation carries much more weight,” said the EP official. He said that action was the best way to respond to such statements and “prove that Bosnia-Hercegovina is a country that has bypassed the criteria that Jansa sees it in terms of.” “In the next few weeks, the political elite in both entities should, with deeds, prove that his provocation is unrealistic, and encourage him to see the country in a better light,” urged Kacin. The EP official feels that the Slovenian president’s comments were a provocation “both to Serbia and its politicians at a time when a fierce presidential election campaign is under way.”
