FM Vuk Jeremic hopes Serbia will sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SSA) with the EU. "The agreement would have never been initialed in the first place had it brought into question our sovereignty and territorial integrity," he explained in an interview to Vecernje Novosti daily. "SAA not in contradiction with Belgrade priorities" “It is not in contradiction with our priorities. I am saying this because Article 35 of the already initialed agreement clearly says that Resolution 1244 should be observed, that Kosovo and Metohija is under international administration, as well as that its status will be resolved in keeping with Resolution 1244, which is our stand as well,” Jeremic said. When asked how the government will determine with Brussels that an EU mission cannot arrive in Kosovo without a corresponding decision of the UN Security Council, Jeremic answered by saying that “there are diplomatic mechanisms which we will use to explain to the EU that any change as regards the structure and mandate of the mission in Kosovo and Metohija can be made only on the basis of a SC decision.” As for Serbia's reaction in case Belgrade first sign the SAA and then, a few days after that, the EU mission arrived in Kosovo without a UN decision, the foreign said that “we have made it clear, and this also specified in our draft resolution, that in case anyone violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, we will use all legal, political, diplomatic and economic means to make such an act void." "All those that might undertake such an act have to bear in mind that we will be obliged to reexamine our relations with them,” Jeremic concluded.
