Oliver Ivanovic says he does not expect much from the parliamentary resolution on Kosovo. In the opinion of the former MP in the Kosovo parliament, its being used for "daily-political purposes." "Parliament Kosovo resolution is just political ploy" He said that Boris Tadic, Vojislav Kostunica and Tomislav Nikolic should call on Serbs to stay in Kosovo. “Our people in Kosovo haven’t learned to decide by themselves,“ Ivanovic told B92’s Poligraf program last night. He said it was ridiculous to ask for the text of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) to be changed to include a provision where the EU respects Serbia’s territorial integrity. “This a small-minded view, pie in the sky. As if we’re going to hurt the EU by not joining it when no-one’s actually inviting us to. It’s nonsense, I think it’s just the narrow opinion of one party which is being presented as the opinion of the whole of Serbia and Kosovo, but it’s not the opinion at all of the Serbs in Kosovo, as nobody relevant can say what our position is,“ said the former MP. He said that he believed that, in the event of a declaration of independence, there would not be any violence against the Serbs. “The fact we don’t like it isn’t going to stop the Albanians’ allies giving them the thumbs-up to go ahead with it. If they do, it’s important that we have foreign forces who we can turn to if things take a turn for the worse,“ Ivanovic explained. The former MP added that he did not believe violence was inevitable. “Even though everyone's scaring us with these things, I think it’s a lot less likely than it was in 2004 after March 17,“ he concluded. Jeremic: Serbian military neutrality Under the text of the agreed parliamentary resolution on Kosovo, Serbia would remain militarily neutral until the citizens decided otherwise in a referendum, said Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. Jeremic said that the resolution mentioned Serbia’s military neutrality. “Serbia does not currently belong to any military alliance, and the resolution explicitly sets out that Serbia will not do so in the future, unless the citizens decide otherwise in a referendum,“ said the foreign minister. He said that the resolution’s text showed that “absolute unity” existed within the government on the most important matters. “The resolution shows that unity exists when it comes to the most important points of state policy in the government, and I hope this will be confirmed after voting in the parliament,” Jeremic said.
