New Serbia’s main board will meet today in Cacak. They are expected to decide on Velimir Ilic candidacy for the presidential ballot. The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) will make its decision on the presidential vote after the Democratic Party (DS) replies to its invitation to determine joint policy. The DSS has told its coalition partners that it does not wish to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) unless the EU guarantees Serbia’s territorial integrity. NS main board in session (Tanjug) “Worrying message to Europe” Jelica Minic from the European Movement reiterated to B92 that the contents of the SAA had already been initialed, and that there was no more room for amendments. “It certainly would not be standard practice, as initialing means that agreement has been reached and that signing is just a technical procedure,” said Minic. She says that the message sent to the EU is worrying though, and can be interpreted in a number of ways. Minic warns that Serbia is in no position to send ultimatums to the EU, and that the country is in danger of becoming the only country in the region to be left out of European integration.
