Dragan Djilas assisted a reporter from Pirot’s Radio Sport whose car had swerved into the Luznica River near Babusnica. The Democrat, who serves as minister without portfolio in charge of the National Investment Plan, and a group of people came to the rescue of Nenad Paunovic, whose car skidded off the road into the Luznica River. Minister helps rescue journalist Djilas was on a trip to Babusnica where he was visiting places damaged in the recent floods, while Paunovic, a well-known local journalist and owner of a private radio station was accompanying him. Owing to bad weather and a slippery surface, the journalist’s car veered off the road at one point, ended up in the river, and flipped over on to its roof. Djilas and his entourage came to the aid of Paunovic, who was alone in the car. They turned the car on to its side to allow the journalist to extract himself, before taking him to Pirot Hospital for treatment. The journalist escaped without any serious injuries, other than physical and mental shock, thanks to the river in that section being no more than a meter deep. Having changed his clothes, the minister continued his journey to Dimitrovgrad where he was due to meet with Bulgarian Economy Minister Petar Dimitrov and lay a foundation stone for the construction of a new technology factory.
