Great Britain’s Deputy Ambassador to Serbia, Bill Longhurst, met with leaders of the Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP). According to the party, British embassy officials showed interest and worry over the events related to the Islamic community in Novi Pazar, and the effects they have on the state structure and political parties. British embassy officials visit Novi Pazar “SDP Secretary General Mirsad Jusufovic presented to the guests the action plan of the party for calming tensions and solving the problems that have arisen,” according to a party statement. Longhurst, along with officials of the British Foreign Ministry, yesterday met with officials of the local Islamic community as well, along with local media representatives. Tensions have been running high, with numerous incidents within the Islamic community in town, after the organization gathering Serbia's Muslims split to two factions in October.
