A minister in charge of Diaspora says Serbia must "change its attitude" towards the Diaspora in the United States. Stronger ties with Diaspora needed – minister In an interview for the Monday issue of the Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti, she said that it was "time to reconcile different ideologies and generations," adding that Serbia should prove that it “has drawn the line and turned the page on its 50-year-long ideology." “The variety of people living in the Diaspora across the ocean is even greater than that in Serbia itself, and once you get in contact with these people, you realize that the visit to your fellow-citizens is, in fact, a travel thorough time and history,” the minister said. “All of them want to cooperate with Serbia, and the ministry will work on building trust between the homeland and the Diaspora,” Cubrilo, who was recently on a visit to the U.S., told the newspaper.
