Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica says Serbia has taken the initiative in the Kosovo talks. To illustrate his point, Kostunica pointed to the proposed model of essential autonomy offered to Kosovo, giving the province status similar to that of Hong Kong. Kostunica: Serbia has initiative over Kosovo During his meeting today with Irish Foreign Minister Dermot Ahern, Kostunica underscored that, via this proposal, Serbia was taking an important step towards finding a compromise, that is to say a sustainable and functional solution in line with the UN Charter, Resolution 1244 and the Constitution of Serbia, the government press office stated. In its further activities, Serbia will strongly insist on such a solution, because it guarantees Serbia’s own national interests and, at the same time, meets the essential interests of the Albanian ethnic minority in the province, said the prime minister. Ahern stressed that it was important to find a compromise solution for Kosovo through dialogue between the two sides.
