Poll: Majority favors Kosovo autonomy

The majority of citizens feel that Kosovo autonomy within Serbia is “the fairest outcome of the negotiations.” These were the results of a survey by the Politikum Agency presented at Tanjug's International Press Center on Wednesday. Poll: Majority favors Kosovo autonomy According to the survey conducted in September and October, 56.68 percent of citizens support Kosovo autonomy within Serbia, while 27.84 percent feel partition of the province would be the fairest outcome to the negotiations. Kosovo independence was backed by 6.06 percent of those questioned. When asked what, in their opinion, would be the outcome of the Kosovo negotiations, 43.2 percent responded that Kosovo would gain independence, 15.91 percent expected partition, 14.88 percent believed that Kosovo would have the status of an autonomous region within Serbian borders, while 14.32 percent thought that it would remain an international protectorate. 59.31 percent of interviewees supported close relations between Serbia and Russia, with 25.3 percent against, said Politikum Director Slobodan Miladinović.

Politikum questioned 1,300 people throughout Serbia, excluding Kosovo.
