The EU Council of Ministers will formally confirm an agreement on visa relaxations with Serbia on November 8. Director of the Office for Association with the EU Tanja Miscevic made the announcement today, stressing that it was very important that parliament ratified this agreement before the EU. Visa relaxations to be ratified next month "What in national law is known as ratification, we here call an act of formal confirmation and it refers to the moment when ratification has been completed. This is issued by the Council of Ministers, and will, as planned, take place on November 8," Miscevic told reporters at the National Parliament, following a session of the European Integration Parliamentary Committee. Miscevic stressed that it was important for parliament to ratify the agreement on visa relaxations before the EU, since "this is a very important moment to be aware of the feeling that we belong to Europe as such." Bearing in mind the significance of the agreements on visa facilities and readmission, there should be no problems as far as their adoption in parliament was concerned, she said. Miscevic explained that the agreement on visa relaxations would take effect once both sides had ratified the document, and from the first day of the second month after ratification. The agreement was ratified at a European Parliament plenary session on Oct 24, prior to its imminent ratification by the EU Council of Ministers. Parliamentary review of the two agreements is scheduled to take place today.
