Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac doesn't believe the Army will do anything contrary to state policy vis-a-vis Kosovo. Sutanovac said today he was positive that “the Army will not do anything that would go beyond the framework of the political decisions of the government and the president of the Republic in the Kosovo status settlement process, whatever the outcome of the negotiations.” "Army and state to work hand-in-hand" “Everything will be in done keeping with state policy,” he added, speaking at the Serbia 2007 economic summit, which has got under way at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Belgrade. “The Army and the Police are capable of carrying out all tasks and preventing processes that could destabilize the country,” Sutanovac said. The minister concluded that the support certain countries in the region had given to Serbian policy on Kosovo was very important and , as he put it, “a good signal for other countries in the region as well.”
