Minister for Kosovo Slobodan Samardzic says Washington's Kosovo policy could amount to "violence and force". If the United States is to implement Martti Ahtisaari's plan for Kosovo without taking Serbia's stand into consideration and contrary to Resolution 1244, it is, in fact, Washington's attempt to break up Serbia by pursuing a policy of force and violence, the minister from the DSS ranks said Friday. "U.S. wants to break up Serbia with policy of force" "The United States of America knows that all state institutions in Serbia have rejected Ahtisaari's plan and that it was not accepted by the Security Council, and that is why it is unclear how the United States of America intend to recognize unilateral independence on the basis of that plan after December 10," Samardzic said in a statement to Tanjug news agency. Samardzic underscored that Ahtisaari's plan may not be imposed on Serbia and that only Resolution 1244, which explicitly guarantees sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia in Kosovo, will be valid for Serbia, regardless of what Washington decides to do. "The U.S. may try to impose Ahtisaari's plan with a policy of force, but it will realize that force may not change Resolution 1244 or the Constitution of Serbia, which means that it may never change the fact that Kosovo and Metohija is an integral and inalienable part of Serbia's territory," specified Samardzic. He pointed out that it is "not good" that the preparation document of the conclusions of the EU Council of Ministers states that the negotiation process on the status of Kosovo will end on December 10. "Never before has the international community given a deadline for talks on complex world issues, for the simple reason that deadlines to not contribute to finding solutions," believes Samardzic.
