GDP up 7.7 percent in first half of 2007

Serbia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by almost eight percent in the first half of the year. The Statistical Office released data Saturday that compared results with the same period last year. GDP up 7.7 percent in first half of 2007 Q2 this year saw GDP grow by 7.7 percent, making up RSD 334.5bn. The growth was noted in the activities in the following sectors: transport – 21.4 percent, financial intermediation – 20 percent, trade – 19.3 percent, services – 12.2 percent, construction – 9.6 percent, energy and water – 7.5 percent, and manufacturing – 4.4 percent. As for the 7.7 percent growth, it was mainly due to increases in the sector of transport, with 2.4 percentage point, trade 1.9, financial intermediation 1.3, and manufacturing 0.6. The contribution to the increase in real GDP by all other activities were either negative or lower.

As for the 7.7 percent growth, it was mainly due to increases in the sector of transport, with 2.4 percentage point, trade 1.9, financial intermediation 1.3, and manufacturing 0.6.

The contribution to the increase in real GDP by all other activities were either negative or lower.
