Nine animal species, mostly birds, have become extinct in Serbia, the Biological Research Institute said in a report.

Nine animal species disappear in Serbia

Even with the disturbing report, experts say the wildlife situation in Serbia is better than in much of Europe.

The good news is that the griffon vulture, a species almost extinct elsewhere in Europe, has in the past ten years significantly increased numbers in Serbia, due to efforts of local conservationists.
