Fried: Limited talks, supervised independence

“Serbia genuinely wishes to see a compromise and sustainable solution for Kosovo and Metohija that would be acceptable to both sides,” Tadić said at the meeting.

Tadić added Serbia fought for its southern province with all diplomatic, legal and peaceful means, and voiced opposition to any unilateral recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

Fried arrived in Belgrade Tuesday after visiting Podgorica and Priština earlier in the week.

Parliament to prepare Kosovo resolution

Meanwhile, Serbian officials have announced they were preparing for consultations over a parliamentary resolution on Kosovo.

Kosovo Minister Slobodan Samardžić said that the consultations regarding the resolution would bring together officials from all parties, with the goal to create a proposal which the parliament will be able to adopt in July.

“That resolution will approve the steps taken thus far in the Kosovo discussions, determine the stance of the state according to new events and give guidelines for national politics, including new negotiations."

"We expect that the consultations will be finished in a few days and that the resolution will be prepared and presented to the parliament in about a week,” Samardžić said.
