2 KFOR soldiers killed in Kosovo road accidents
The soldiers, who belong to a 215-strong Swiss peacekeeping contingent in the province, were traveling in an armored personnel carrier when the accident occurred early Friday, the ministry said.Major Vedat Yumsak, a NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) spokesman, said the vehicle had overturned, but gave no more details, saying an investigation was ongoing.
None of the survivors was seriously injured, and three have since been released from a German field hospital in Prizren, about 60 kilometers southwest of Priština.
In another accident in Leposavić, some 60 kilometers north of Priština, another KFOR soldier died while three were injured, said a KFOR spokesman, Colonel Michael Knop. Two of the injured were in a serious condition, he said.
KFOR did not immediately release their nationalities, pending notification of their families.
The cause of the accident was under investigation, Knop said.
