Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica met today with Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Eumelio Caballero Rodriguez.Koštunica reiterated that Serbia requested new negotiations on the future status of Kosovo so as to come to a sustainable and durable solution for the province, the government said on its web site.
He pointed out that Serbia was ready to take full responsibility for fresh status negotiations, adding that only a solution both sides agreed on could contribute to preservation of regional stability.
“Kosovo cannot be regarded as a unique case, as any imposed solution and violation of the UN Charter and seizure of Serbian territory will have far-reaching consequences worldwide,” Koštunica warned.
Rodriguez said that the solution for Kosovo should come out of an agreement between Belgrade and Priština and that Cuba’s position on the issue was that sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected.
The two officials agreed that Serbia and Cuba fostered “traditionally good relations” and expressed readiness to further develop economic cooperation, especially in the areas of pharmacy, agriculture and trade.
