She stressed it was "imperative that the UN mission gained insight into the genuine state of affairs and saw how the Serb enclaves looked in reality fenced with barbed wire."

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement Saturday that Serbian ambassador to the UN Pavle Jevremović had already conveyed Serbia’s request that the UN fact-finding mission should visit Serb enclaves in Kosovo.

“The UN Security Council mission has been invited to stay in the province for as long as it takes in order to get a realistic notion of whether the provisions of UN Resolution 1244 pertaining to the democratic standards for Serbs and other non-Albanians, have been implemented,” the statement published on the government's web site said.

Belgian UN Ambassador Johan Verbeke, who will lead the UN Kosovo mission, said that the mission’s goal was to gain latest direct information regarding the situation in Kosovo, the Kosovo press reported.
