Storm enters Croatia’s textbooks

The Textbook Committee demanded the amendment of certain content and have so far approved five different history schoolbooks.

Textbook Committee member and Associate Education Minister Mladen Oršolić said that the themes from the Croatian war were appropriately handled.

“We have insisted that all textbook treat the events from Croatian war equally, to clearly state the truth, point at the aggressors, affirm the number of victims and say that Operation Storm and Flash were liberating actions which set Croatia free,” Oršolić said.

He also added that the textbook contained facts that these actions involved certain individual deeds and war crimes which required legal prosecution.

Certain authors have been criticized for giving too much space to war crimes inflicted upon Serb civilians during Operation Storm, including Snežana Koren who is accused of identifying the aggressor and the victim.
