EU delegation and Russia’s representatives say that Kosovo solution will depend on Belgrade and Pristina.

EU-Russia: Belgrade and Priština to decide

EU High Representaive for Foreign Policy Javier Solana said that the EU and Russia jointly called on Belgrade and Priština to engage into negotiatiations over Martti Ahtisaari's recommendations for Kosovo status.

He refused to answer whether the EU was willing to recognize Kosovo’s independence, and what is the role of Russia in the process.

When asked what would happen if the opposing sides failed to reach an agreement, Solana said that Kosovo needs a new UN Resolution to define its status, which would be imposed if lacked support by both sides.
EU delegation also known as the European troika, was led by the German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, accompanied by EU foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, and External Relations Commissioner, Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
