LDP leader Čedomir Jovanović did not want to disclose any of the details of his platform prior to the meeting.

When questioned whether his coalition is ready to moderate its pre-electoral position in regards to the possibility of sitting side by side with DSS or G17 Plus in the new government, Jovanović said that the coalition he leads had already made concessions. “At this moment I believe that Tadić needs our support and energy, and we will act accordingly at the upcoming meeting”, Jovanović said.

Prior to the current meeting with the LDP, President Tadić talked to representatives of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS).

After the meeting, SPS President Ivica Dačić said that his party maintains that the makeup of the parliament and the new government should follow soon, given the urgency of the Kosovo issue for Serbia.

“We warned that the international community will try to impose independence as a solution for Kosovo, since we are in between governments at the moment” Dačić concluded.

DSS puts platform on Kosovo first

The President of Serbia yesterday met delegations from DSS-NS and G17 Plus. Even though the DSS-NS coalition reiterated on several occasions that Vojislav Koštunica would be the best solution for the prime minister, no one tackled that subject at yesterday’s meeting.

DSS-NS presented only their platform on Kosovo. The adoption of a platform must precede any form of cabinet negotiations, according to Dragan Jočić.

The G17 Plus delegation expressed their willingness to form the new government as soon as possible. Party leader Mlađan Dinkić said that the parties to form the government must reach a consensus over the pace of joining the EU, strengthening of the economy, reforming the security sector and reaching a compromise over the Kosovo issue.
