Welfare kitchen looks for help

The daily’s Editor-in-Chief Petar Jeremić told Beta that with three dinars a month from the 50,000 citizens of the Gornji Milanovac municipality, funds would be gathered to feed 120 kitchen patrons.

“They are now starving and are coming to the doors of the Red Cross every day with empty plates, and the Red Cross does not have the funds to help them. We must not allow them to commit suicide – let’s put in three dinars each,” the statement reads.

Secretary of the Municipal Council of the Red Cross, Tomislav Marković, said that they have sent 150 letters to various addresses for help in opening the welfare kitchen again, but that he has only received one answer.

There has been a proposal for some time now for a rebalance of the 1,660,000 dinars set aside, but the temporary institutions, which the Serbian Government named, have not made any decisions because of their constant inter-party bickering, according to local officials.
