Referendum: What if it fails?

Elections to establish a constitutional assembly seem the better option, Ivošević believes.

“First, certain laws would have to be adopted by this parliament, and then the constitutional assembly elections would be organized, in order to adopt this or a slightly modified proposal”.

The current referendum’s failure to confirm the new constitution would send a negative message to the international community, effectively saying that Kosovo’s future is of no interest to us, Ivošević says.

“That would provide the international community with an easier task deciding on Kosovo’s future in the way in which, I fear, they will decide anyway”.

Ivošević believes that the failure of the referendum would stem from several causes, among others indifference, but also the revolt at the fact the public was not consulted when the constitutional proposal was put together, and is now simply expected to vote for it.
