MUP acquires photo robot software
Olivera Radosavljević of the MUP’s registration and identification division says a witness who gives a statement to be used to produce a photo robot first looks at the existing database of photographs.“The witness sometimes identifies the perpetrator directly, so we don’t have to go to the next stage”, she says.
Radosavljević explains that in cases involving multiple witnesses, each photo robot is produced individually and then compared.
The police will soon start using FIIS, a system for automatic facial identification. Based on the photograph in the database and video cameras placed throughout towns and shops, criminals will be identified and located.
