New police code of ethics
The code insists on consistent borderlines between the judicial and police jurisdiction, for example denying the police the right to advocate adoption of laws giving it judicial powers.According to the document, a policeman is not obligated to carry out his orders if they represent a felony or a breach of law. A police officer must confront any act of corruption and cannot engage in activities contrary to his official duties or detrimental to the service’s reputation.
The police service is also envisaged mirroring the structure of the population, providing equal opportunities for men, women and minorities of different social backgrounds.
Police officers must act impartially, and treat citizens with dignity and respect, the new code states.
