Democratic Party takes Leskovac vote

According to B92’s correspondent in Leskovac Bratislav Ilić, based on the results in over 90 percent of polling locations, Marinković received 54.1 percent of the vote, while Cvetanović received 44.4 percent.

About 40 percent of the city’s registered voters participated in the second round.

Cvetanović, who was supported by the Socialist Party of Serbia as well, congratulated Marinković on winning the election an hour after the polling stations closed. Marinković was supported by officials of the G17 Plus party.

Marinković said that this is a great day for Leskovac and that it has chosen a European path in voting for him.

Democratic Party Vice President Dragan Šutanovac said that this is the first victory of many more for the party, adding that its greatest victory will culminate with the parliamentary and presidential votes expected to take place after the constitutional referendum.
