The offer of a European perspective

“It calls for relaxations of the visa regime, for inter-parliamentary cooperation and also talks about the protection of people indicted by the Hague Tribunal, not just about the obligations of the countries who must cooperate with The Hague.” Miloš Aligrudić said.

The CoE adopted a resolution calling for all member countries to make an effort towards fulfilling all obligations that being a member of the CoE entails, especially in proving the credibility of cooperation with the Hague Tribunal with evidence.

The parliament stated that there are many more obstacles in the way of the countries of the Western Balkans, but that it is the obligation of the international community, especially the Council of Europe and the EU, to support these countries, and recognize the progress which the countries have made and the efforts they are investing in the process.

Aligrudić said that the Serbian delegation protested the speech of the Albanian President Sali Beriša who said that along with Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro also support Kosovo independence.

“If this is true, then we will have to think about redefining our relations with these two nations, but if it is not true, then Beriša was abusing his right to speak to the parliament. What is unacceptable in any case is having a diplomat speak about the political stances of other countries.” Aligrudić said.
