Day two of Del Ponte’s visit

During the first day of her visit, Del Ponte had a very long discussion with Vukčević and chief officials of the information services. According to B92’s sources, the meetings were attended by Security Information Agency Director Rade Bulatović and Military Security Agency Chief Svetko Kovač.

President Tadić is the only official to make a statement since meeting with Del Ponte. He said that yesterday’s talk did not differ much from talks conducted in the past, and that he is not optimistic about the contents of Del Ponte’s report on cooperation, which Serbia’s stabilization and association talks with the European Union depend on.

“My job is to do what is best for our nation and to make sure that the report is good. Carla Del Ponte is asking for us to fulfill all international and domestic laws. So, even by our laws, all those indicted by the Hague Tribunal must be taken there, and that it a very clear fact. Without that, there are no continuations of the stabilization talks, and no steps being taken towards EU membership, now when everyone is rushing at full speed towards the EU to catch the last trains leaving. The situation is clear.” Tadić said.

Del Ponte will meet with Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica, Foreign Affairs Minister Vuk Drašković and Action Plan Coordinator Rasim Ljajić today.
