Disputable parts of constitution on agenda

Lončar introduced the parliamentary officials last night to the constitutional draft. The meeting was not attended by officials of the Democratic Party, because they discussed the constitution at a meeting of the party’s presidency earlier.

The document being presented is not a final draft, because there are several more issues that need to be discussed and agreed upon, one of the main ones being the status of Vojvodina.

The Serbian Government has shown a willingness to compromise with several issues, but is not expected to allow Vojvodina to have its own constitution or pass its own laws. The Democratic Party and the radicals disagree on whether Vojvodina should have its own regional police, with the democrats supporting the initiative and the radical standing firmly against it.
