B92 will on Monday air the first part of its documentary dedicated to the Special Operations Unit (JSO).

“The Unit” premiers on B92

Švarm says many of those who participated in the events dealt with by the documentary have declined to speak, while the state institutions and police representatives would not even take part informally.

The film shows many previously unaired videos of the unit’s operations. One of the JSO first commanders, Dragan Vasiljković, a.k.a. Kapetan Dragan, speaks for the documentary, as well as Bosnian Serb Army (VRS) general Manojlo Milovanović, and many of the unit’s members.

Professor Vojin Dimitrijević of the Belgrade Center for human rights sees the documentary as strongly anti-war. “I don’t know if the message will be relayed to all the parts of our society since the segments of the population who are unaware of what this unit represented are not even watching this television. The message is that this in an anti-war film, clearly exposing the conflict’s decadence, where those with bloodied hands were celebrated as heroes”.

The documentary’s first part will air on Monday, September 11, while the second and the third parts will be broadcast on September 18 and 25, at 9 p.m.
