Serbian and Montenegrin Chambers of commerce: trade between the two countries grew by 70 per cent.

Trade grows between Serbia and Montenegro

Serbian Chamber of commerce chairman Slobodan Milosavljević said after the first meeting following the Montenegrin independence that further improvement of economic relations between the two countries will be the goal of the Chambers of commerce council, to be set up in September.

The Council will plan investments and joint approach to third markets and international institutions, and will influence the two governments toward creating a favorable business climate.

Total trade between Serbia and Montenegro reached $ 601,2 million last year: exports from Serbia accounted for $ 451,6 million, while imports from Montenegro reached $ 149,6 million.

The Montenegrin Chamber of Commerce chairman Vladimir Vukmirović said that Serbia was his country’s most important trade partner. Trade with Serbia amounts to 35 % of Montenegro’s total foreign trade.

Vukmirović said he would prefer to see Serbian investors in Montenegro and stressed the good cooperation taking place in the energy, rail traffic and metal industry sectors. He expressed his satisfaction with the announced Delta Holding investments in Montenegro, as well as with the interest shown by the Serbian business community in cooperation with Montenegrin companies.
