The unemployed population in Nis is now down from 50,000 to under 30,000, and the goal is to reduce the number to below 20,000, Vucic said as he addressed those gathered, adding that "the results of the policy of stability, security and accountability can be seen today."

"That is the policy which people had chosen and which attracts foreign investors," said Vucic, revealing that the factory will produce cable systems for BMW - and is "expected to open in August."

Vucic added that "during the talks with the management of Leoni he said that the fourth factory should also be opened in Nisava District, and promised that this company will get better conditions by five percent than before."

He said that Leoni, with 7,500 employees, "is becoming the largest employer in the manufacturing sector in Serbia" and "underlined that he is very pleased that Nis is part of that and that old promise that the government will take care about Nis and that region is being fulfilled."

"Although February is the most difficult month, there will be no deficit, even though the expected deficit was RSD 18 billion. Expenditures are under control, although pensions and salaries in the public sector have been increased by 1.56 percent," Vucic said.

He "called on investors from Germany to come and do business in our country, and expressed gratitude to German Ambassador to Serbia Axel Dittmann on his assistance in bringing German investments to Serbia."

"I expect this part of Europe to be the engine of economic growth of entire Europe, but we cannot do it without German. European integration remains the strategic objective of our country," the prime minister said.

Vucic today also "announced the opening of a new factory of Austrian company Zumtobel in Nis, which will create 1,000 jobs - the best continuation of the tradition of electronic industry in that city."

"An investor will also be found for Niska Banja soon. The government is ready to provide funding for good projects," Vucic said, as quoted by the statement.
