"IMF official's comment about salaries taken out of context"

Commenting on a recent statement

by IMF Mission Chief for Serbia James Roaf, who said that a salary and pension increase is not possible because Serbia is lagging behind in its public sector reform, Vucic said that the assessment was "somewhat taken out of context."

"In that statement, Roaf mentioned many good and exceptional things, but this assessment was taken out of context because he said that there will be no salary and pension increases if there is no additional fiscal cost cutting," Vucic said.

"Our fiscal results and the macroeconomic situation have never been better - the IMF made the same conclusion a year ago and we still increased salaries," Vucic added.
