Serbian currency holds steady at end of week

The value of the national currency against the Eurozone currency is by 0.5 per cent higher than a month ago and by 0.7 per cent lower than a year ago, NBS released.

The value of the Serbian dinar against the US dollar increased by 0.4 per cent, thus setting the indicative exchange rate at RSD 106.9951.

The value of the Serbian dinar against the US currency is lower by 0.3 per cent on the monthly level, while its value on the annual level is lower by 12.3 per cent.

The Serbian dinar hit its record low on January 29, with the official middle exchange rate at RSD 123.57, while its record high this year was recorded on Thursday, with the official middle exchange rate at RSD 119.7162.

Since the beginning of the year, NBS sold EUR 130 million and purchased EUR 880 million on the inter-bank foreign currency market in order to prevent excessive daily volatility of the exchange rate.
