Zorana Mihajlovic stated on Tuesday that direct flights from Serbia to the U.S. could be introduced in late 2015 or the first quarter of 2016.

"Direct flights to U.S. possible in late 2015 or early 2016"

"Serbia will thus become the only country in this part of Europe with direct flights to the U.S. and passengers from other countries would then focus on our (Belgrade) airport which would be another benefit for Serbia from the economic standpoint," Mihajlovic said.

The agreement on air traffic with the U.S. was discussed in parliament on Tuesday and its ratification constitutes the condition for airliner decisions to introduce direct flights from Serbia to the U.S.
