"Serbia neither seeks, nor has any other path than the European one," the PM said opening the "Serbia in Vienna 2015" business forum at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.

Vucic also said that Austria is the biggest investor in Serbia, accounting for 12.8 percent of total direct investments.

"Serbia is today a politically and economically stable country despite the economic crisis, it is the pillar of stability in the entire region," Vucic added.

Serbia has launched reforms because it wants to be part of the EU as a successful country, he said.

"Part of EU in economic sense"

President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl says Serbia is "already a part of the EU in the economic sense," and "expressed his hope that membership will soon be realized in the political sense as well."

Speaking at the opening of the forum in Vienna on Tuesday, Leitl said that Serbia accessed the European Chamber of Commerce during his mandate as the institution's chair.

Leitl "expressed the satisfaction that Serbia has already become a member of the European economic family in the economic sense," Tanjug reported, and said he added that "it needs to be borne in mind that economy comes before politics, that the EU was based on economic cooperation and that economy has a leading position in all circumstances."

"Economic data in the two countries' business cooperation show that Austria has great confidence in Serbia and its citizens because they make up the economy," Leitl said and added that "Serbia has great trust in Austria as well."
