Prices in Serbia drop 0.2 percent in January

Consumer prices in Serbia fell 0.2 percent in January, according to a release from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (RZS).

Prices in Serbia drop 0.2 percent in January

Year-on-year inflation in January 2015 was 0.1 percent, while average annual growth in consumer prices in 2014 was 2.9 percent.

Observed by the main groups of products and services classified by the consumption purpose, prices dropped the most against a month earlier in the following groups: recreation and culture (-2.1 percent), transport (-2.0 percent), health (-1.6 percent), clothing and footwear (-0.7 percent) and communication (-0.3 percent).

Prices went up in the food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.6 percent), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (0.5 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.4 percent) groups and in the groups alcoholic beverages and tobacco, restaurants and hotels and education (by 0.1 percent, each).

Prices of other products and services did not change significantly, the RZS said.
