China Development Bank experts to visit Belgrade

Noting that an agreement on constructing a high-speed railway line from Belgrade to Budapest has already been signed, the prime minister said that Chinese and Serbian experts need to work out a plan for connecting the railway line with the road network and the port on the Danube River.

A free economic zone could then be formed from which goods would be exported to Western Europe, as well as to Eastern markets, he explained.

In a statement to B92, Vučić said that he expects more investments from China and that Chinese companies are interested in buying Serbian companies.

"We have offered five of our construction companies, which are mostly in restructuring, but also socially-owned companies from the list of 502 companies that are in the process of being privatized," he said.

"If China declares Serbia as risk-free for investments, I am confident that Chinese investors will be rushing to Serbia," Vučić said.

The Serbian prime minister on Thursday concluded his visit to China, where he attended the World Economic Forum in Tianjin, alongside over 1,500 participants from 90 countries, including heads of state and government and senior officials of major global companies such as Google, Microsoft and Audi.

Vučić and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang agreed that the next summit of heads of government of 16 central and eastern European countries be held in Belgrade, while the Chinese premier accepted an invitation to visit Serbia in December.
