BELGRADE Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic says Serbia is ready to talk with Russia and the EU about possible legal issues concerning South Stream. “The South Stream works are underway and things are running their course, and we are to discuss the legal part,” Mihajlovic told a press conference in Belgrade. "Serbia ready to discuss S. Stream with Russia, EU" “I was informed, just as I said earlier, that the government had not received any letter from the European Commission (EC) or the EU regarding South Stream,” Mihajlovic said. She added that she received from Energy Community Secretariat Director Janez Kopac a copy of a letter from 2010 that the Community sent to then Serbian Energy Minister Peter Skundric warning him of all the problems. “I did not see the letter until two days ago,” Mihajlovic said, stressing that at one point, the EC was warning EU member-states and Serbia about the fact that not all aspects of the pipeline project South Stream were harmonized with the EU Third Energy Package. She said that a public debate on a draft law on energy that contains the Third Energy Package in its entirety is currently underway in Serbia. Mihajlovic said that there are three stages or three rounds in resolving this issue, namely, Russia and the EU need to strike a deal, the EU also has to make a deal with its member states that South Stream will be going through, and there are the talks between Serbia, Russia and the EU. What matters most, and the EU has also said that, is that this is not causing any delays in the construction of the pipeline, said Mihajlovic. (Tanjug) Tanjug
