BELGRADE Corridors of Serbia filed EUR 44 million worth of claims to the Vienna Commercial Court against the Austrian construction company Alpine. Alpine was hired in Serbia in the construction of the transport Corridor 10. Corridors of Serbia claim EUR 78.3mn from Alpine Corridors of Serbia (Koridori Srbije) will also seek compensation for foregone profits in collection of tolls worth EUR 23.3 million, the public company's Director Dmitar Djurovic has said. Corridors of Serbia filed a claim request within the envisaged deadline until August 16 and the claims will be subject to analysis by competent institutions in Austria, Djurovic said at a news conference and added that it is uncertain how long the process would take. Djurovic added that the tender for completion of works on the construction of Corridor 10 section from Pirot to Dimitrovgrad in south-east Serbia would be launched in the next 30 days on urgent procedure so that the works on the section could continue at the beginning of the construction season in the next year. According to certain assessments, the bankruptcy proceedings in Alpine which declared bankruptcy would take at least four years, after which Serbia will be able to collect its claims.
