JEDDAH Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic met on Sunday with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Economy Muhammad Al Jasser. Ljajic, who is also serving as the minister of foreign and domestic trade and telecommunications, invited Saudi businessmen to invest in Serbia. Minister calls on Saudis to invest in Serbia According to reports, he also said the government would soon select projects with which it will apply to the Saudi Fund For Development, which has expressed interest in joint investment activities in Serbia. Al Jasser said the establishment of diplomatic relations is a foundation for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that the construction, military, pharmaceutical and tourism industries have particular potential for development. He invited Serbian companies to take part in construction projects in Saudi Arabia, since the the country's five-year plan includes USD 350 billion for various infrastructure facilities. He said the country is also open to doctors of all specialties, nurses and medical technicians, due to a shortage of trained personnel there. The meeting of Ljajic and Al Jasser was the first meeting between a Serbian and Saudi state official after the two countries established diplomatic relations.
