ABU DHABI Serbia's Jugoimport SDPR and the Emirates Advanced Research and Technology Holding (Earth) signed a contract in Abu Dhabi on Monday. The two parties agreed on a project of joint development of the Advanced Light Attack System (ALAS) guided missile system, and equipment. It is a significant moment for the Serbian missile industry, and for factories such as Krusik, Teleoptik and UTVA, the release said. The agreement was signed by Jugoimport SDPR Director Jugoslav Petkovic and EARTH development director Salem Al Abri. “This is a big investment that will significantly step up both our development process and new technological opportunities in the most sophisticated missile technology field, and also the development of sensors for missile guidance and control,” Jugoimport SDPR Assistant General Director Nenad Miloradovic said after the signing. (Tanjug) Serbia hopes for UAE investments in its IT sector Meanwhile in Serbia, the special advisor for competitiveness and knowledge economy with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Jasna Matic has stated that efforts were being invested in attracting the investment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the information technologies sector. “This is truly a major investment worth USD 4 or 5 billion and there are few such production plants in the world,” she noted. “We have certain advantages but we will see whether the investment will end up in Serbia,” she noted. According to Matic, this would put Serbia on the map in terms of high-tech production, along with few other countries in the world. “UAE launched its first projects in the high-tech industry sector three or four years ago with great enthusiasm, and it is now making substantial investments and seeking new production sites,” Matic noted.
