BELGRADE Fiscal Council member Vladimir Vuckovic said on Thursday that the state-regulated prices have "a large impact on inflation". According to him, "a precise plan aimed at changing the state-regulated prices would lead to a better inflation management". State-regulated prices have "large impact on inflation" "The National Bank (NBS) cannot tackle the inflation successfully, if it does not know on what it could count on that side. The latest demand of the (NBS) governor is that the Serbian government should make an effort to have a plan for changing the regulated prices. In the past, that plan was not credible or adhered to," Vuckovic told Serbia's public broadcaster RTS. Asked whether it is realistic to expect that the 2013 inflation would stand at 5.5 percent as it has been planned, he says it would be rather hard to achieve that goal. "The first projections show that the inflation in 2013 could exceed that level, but that it will certainly be significantly lower than in 2012," Vuckovic noted. "The citizens have to have more information as to the way in which budget is filled, and spent," he added. "The citizens have all the right to ask where their money goes. We are often witnesses of various doubts that there are abuses, corruption cases, and that the money is not being spent in an effective way," Vuckovic concluded. RTS Tanjug
