Serbian dinar hits new record low

The Serbian dinar dropped by 0.4 percent on Thursday and reached its record low of RSD 119.0723, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) has released.

The previous record low totaled RSD 118.6892 and it was recorded on July 27, while the dinar's greatest high was recorded on January 11, with the official middle exchange rate at RSD 103.6922.

Since the beginning of the year, NBS sold EUR 1.347.5mn on the inter-bank foreign exchange market so as to prevent excessive daily oscillation of the exchange rate.

On the monthly level, the dinar will drop by 2.7 percent on Thursday, while the drop on the annual level would total 13.3 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, the dinar dropped by as much as 12.1 percent.

The indicative exchange rate of the dinar against the U.S. dollar totaled RSD 96.4539 on Wednesday, which is 0.8 percent lower than its previous value.

The value of the dinar against the U.S. dollar is 2.3 percent lower than a month ago, while its value is 24.8 percent lower compared to a year ago.

Since the beginning of the year, the dinar dropped against the dollar by 16.2 percent.
