Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan - the Customs Union - as well as Ukraine, conducting free trade talks with Serbia, are among our most important trade partners. This was heard on Friday in Belgrade from Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Chairman Milos Bugarin, who backed up his claim by saying that in 2011, trade worth USD 4bn was expected. Ex-Soviet countries "among most important trade partners" The perspectives of cooperation are huge, and we have to use them more efficiently. We should boost total trade, particularly export, in order to reduce deficit, Bugarin said at the joint press conference of the four countries in the PKS committee for foreign economic relations. In 10 months of 2011, the total trade between Serbia and the Customs Union and Ukraine amounted to USD 3.33 billion, which is 26 percent more compared to the same period in 2010. Unfortunately for Serbia, the export-import coverage is 37 percent. Commenting the deficit which reached USD 1.54 billion, Bugarin underlined that this figure is large due to uncertain payments, expensive transport, complex customs procedures, difficult penetration into market chains, and inequality in tenders. Bugarin recalled that the Serbian export is enlarging by 30 to 60 percent annually, but added that this is not enough. Serbia should facilitate logistics and transport, invest more funds in agriculture, help organization of distribution centers, find a systemic solution for financing, and purchase agricultural products for export, the PKS chairman said. He underlined that Serbia expects from the Customs Union to facilitate customs procedures, secure equality in tender participation, make greater investments in Serbia, and use material and services of the Serbian companies. The meeting was attended by Ambassador of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Konuzin, Ukrainian Ambassador Victor Nedopas and Belarusian Ambassador Vladimir Chuschev. Milos Bugarin (Tanjug, file)
