Benetton acquires textile plant in south

President Boris Tadic and Benetton Group President Luciano Benetton were in Nis on Tuesday as the Italians acquired local textile maker Nitex for EUR 3mn. The Serbian president said that "better days and new investments are ahead for Serbia". The contract on the sale of Nitex was signed by Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric and Benetton Group Executive Director Biagio Chiarolanza. Benetton bought Niteks in May for just over EUR 3mn.

At the time, Benetton announced it would employ 2,700 people and invest EUR 43.2mn in the Niš factory over the next four years.
