The government is preparing new anti-crisis measures that are due to come into force in September, writes daily Vecernje Novosti. Under the plan, that the daily has received confirmation of from government sources, a new set of measures will be drawn up in July that does not envisage an automatic VAT increase, rather a complete “restructuring” of this law. "Govt. readying new set of measures" A reanalysis will take place of which groups of products will continue paying the “preferential” VAT rate of eight percent. Salary tax will be calculated differently and will amount to between 10 and 70 percent for the highest earners. Property tax will change fundamentally and, moreover, will cover luxury items, while a reduction of “discretionary” state spending of around EUR 105mn will also be considered. Government representatives will discuss the proposed changes with an IMF delegation, during the latter’s visit to Serbia in August.
